Frisch South Vietnamese Dinner, Saturday 14th November 2009
For November, we are going to try a proper South Vietnamese restaurant, where I understand that they specialise in the original style of Vietnamese food as imported into France, so this would be the type of restaurant that you will find in places like Paris and Nice. I had some pretty good Vietnamese food in Nice so I am hoping that this place lives up to the same standards as in France.
To make it even better, this place is not at all expensive, which suits the current economically-challenging times. For example, there is a choice of 3 set menus for only 10 Euro each, and even if you go a la carte, most of the main dishes are less than 10 Euro as well. So I am thinking we can all get a few dishes in so that we can sample a wider variety of Vietnamese cooking.
The place is called Viet-Frisch and it is centrally located in Kantstrasse 83, in Charlottenberg, so getting there is not a problem. The restaurant has not been around very long, and the decor is quite nice and interestingly authentic. If you wish, you can check out their website on http://www.viet-frisch.de
So if you would like to try some cool original (and inexpensive) Vietnamese food on Saturday 14 November, then please email me as soon as possible. The closing date is Friday 6 November and all those confirmed will know by Monday 9 November latest. You should also note that this is not a big restaurant so we do not have a big table booking, and if it is overbooked, then we will have to use our little electronic hat. Bribes, not matter how gratuitious, will (probably) not be considered afterwards. :o)
See you soon!
How it went on the night...
To be honest, the service could have a little better and quicker but they managed as best as they could as we were quite a large crowd. Fortunately, we had pre-ordered a little starter which helped stave off hunger pangs for a while. The food was quite good, quite delicious actually although there was a touch of msg around (I'm quite sensitive to that), but everyone had a good time, which is the important thing. The best part was that there were quite a lot of newcomers to the club so it was really great meeting about half a dozen new members (well, I hope they stay as members anyway)!
