My Personal Cooking Night, Friday, 21 May 2004
For May, we have now found a very special location for yet another private dinner event. The place is a spectacular apartment in the Sony Center itself, but not mine, which is grubby, messy, horrible and you really don't want to come to my place anyway. This time, due to popular demand, I will personally prepare the food myself and cook it in front of everyone. I cannot tell you the menu, because it's such a secret that I will have to kill you if I do, and I don't want to risk your life. But I can tell you that it is a pretty simple dish, and something you will probably never have eaten before. And you will really like it, even though I am not a good cook. And I will not stop cooking until you beg me to stop. You can even give me some specifications for the food and I can make special variations according to your wishes. Cool, huh? So, if you are curious enough to want to risk your taste buds, let me know real soon as I really cannot handle a large crowd, so places will be VERY limited for the May event (max 12 persons or so). Oh, and I'll also fix the price at an extremely reasonable 15 EUR per person, and that will include all the food and wine that you can eat and drink, and it will also pay for the organisation and tidying up of the place afterwards.
Oh, and I personally guarantee that you will get a full refund if you are not completely and utterly stuffed (or drunk or both) by the end of the May evening. The planned date is the 21st May. But please let me know now if you are brave (or dumb) enough to try my cooking, OK?
How it went on the night
Well, at least the apartment was very (very) nice and somehow we made enough food to feed the German army for a day or two. So lack of food wasn't a problem on the night. Neither was lack of wine. To be honest, I'm not sure that everyone liked my cooking, but don't say you had not been warned beforehand. And someone (who shall be nameless) even chucked his red wine on me in disgust or something!
Anyway, we all wish to thank Andreas and Isabella for letting us use their wonderful apartment and for being such great hosts, and not least, for providing an interesting peep show from their front window. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then my best advice is that you should have come for the dinner! :o)
