Quickie Vietnamese, Saturday 9 February 2008

I am seriously very rushed this month but at great expense, I have managed to sneak away to be in Berlin for this Saturday evening. And to take our minds off the cold and wet weather, I have organised a Vietnamese dinner. I must confess that I have not been to this restaurant myself yet but the place is very highly recommended, so we will soon know if someone is bullshitting me! :o)

The place is called Saigon And More, and is conveniently located near Victoria-Luise Platz U-Bahn. They have a website but it does not tell you all that much: http://www.saigonandmore.de/ So if you want to read some reviews, just do a google search. The reviews are generally pretty favourable, which is a good sign indeed. The dinner is set for this Saturday, 9 February, and I apologise again for the rush in organising this little event.

Anyway, the place is not that big and I have not reserved a big table as I know this is a very short notice for you. But if you can make it this weekend, then please let me know asap by sending me an email at chris@berlindinnerclub.com.

See you soon!

Chris

How it went on the night...

I would say it was a pretty good night out for everyone - actually, it's one of the more relaxed and fun DC nights! We had a nice crowd who mostly knew each other pretty well including some old members who we hadn't seen for a while, a nice restaurant owner and the main course was also pretty good, if a trifle unconventional. A selection of starters were proposed by the kitchen but I found them only just about passable. However, there were some interesting and pretty hot chilli sauces provided which hit the spot nicely, as least for me and Peter. One of them was supposed to be Vicious Viper, allegedly the hottest chilli sauce on earth, but I'm not so sure... The wines are pretty OK, uncomplicated plonk but quite drinkable and at very decent prices. I only wished I could go out and hit the Green Door afterwards with Astrid but I had to take a sick friend home. Oh well...
