A Universal Dinner, 11 December 2010
We have not had too many dinners in outer space and, to be honest, we won't be changing that with this month's dinner. But if I am an astronaut, which I am not (mainly because they don't make space suits that fit my odd-shaped body), but IF I am an astronaut, I would definitely prefer to eat stuff from the menu at this month's restaurant rather than sucking on those plastic bags of cat food in space.
For this month, on Sat 11 Dec, we will be dining at the Universum Grill, a restaurant so newly launched, they are still peeling the protection wrappers off the furniture. I cannot claim that their menu is scintillatingly original but it's meaty enough to make one salivate while still providing options for our vegetarian co-diners. And best of all, it's not expensive enough to deter committed food lovers like us! :o) More details of the menu can be seen on http://www.universumlounge.com/
So if you are interested in checking out one of Berlin's newest addition to the cool, outer-worldly, spacey dining scene, please let me know by Sun 5 Dec. We don't have a big booking so please do let me know asap. Those who make it into the dining list will be informed by Mon 6 Dec along with details of the meeting point. Simple as that.
See you soon!
How it went on the night...
From various reports, I think the food was generally quite agreeable although many people were puzzled by the tiny, tiny portions, especially of the sides. This was totally inexplicable. The Titanic wines were also sampled with one hit and one rather bad miss. This is truly wine gambling! :o)
