Fleet-footed South African Dinner, Saturday 30 August 2008

The weather has made it very very difficult for us risk another nice outdoor BBQ as I had planned. However, we have found a great alternative plan (or at least, I hope so). It is a type of cuisine we have not ever tried in our 6 years as dinner club though we came close a few times. So, at last, this time we will be doing a full dose of South African cuisine, in one of the few restaurants in Europe that can serve stuff like steinbok and gnu steaks. To be honest, I have not tried this place myself but it sounded so curious and interesting that I feel that we must give it a go, based on quite a few good reviews.

The restaurant is called Cape Town, in Schönfließer Straße 15 in Mitte. The website is http://www.capetown-restaurant.com if you want more details and, as I said earlier, it has been very highly recommended by various magazines in Berlin, so I think it is well worth the risk. The menu is not excessively expensive but neither is it too cheap, so I guess one can expect to spend around €30-40 for the night for some rather eclectic and unusual cuisine.

The dinner night is booked for Saturday, 30th August 2008, and as usual, please do get your response to me as soon as possible, and by 24 August 2008 at the latest so that we can finalise our booking. I apologise for the short notice but I have some extenuating circumstances which I would be happy to explain to you if you really want to know.

So, see you all soon for an evening of interesting food!

Chris

How it went on the night...

Judging from the email feedback, I think one can assume that the place met with not a little approval. The pictures also speak for themselves...
